In growing up as a child, I had visions of a world where equality meant equality for all within and across all aspects of life. I thought often about what role I could play to move society forward toward such a reality and, thereby, all concerned could enjoy higher quality of life and happiness.

The childhood experience was one of mostly joy and happiness and strength, under-girded by love of family, friends and Christianity. It was also a time of disappointment and regrets on how much we were affected and driven by considerations of race, “class” and social dynamics. The time has come for a major shift in how we look at and treat one another, as human beings of equal value and importance.

We will all enjoy a higher quality of life when we focus more on the “common good” and less on considerations of “race” and “class.” The only way to look at diversity is to celebrate and appreciate it. And, the better path to higher quality of life for all is to educate all of the children—“all means all”! So far the common plan for educating our children more likely guarantees that many will not be successful rather than to guarantee all are successful in becoming educated.”
